Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visits Dak Nong province

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh held a working session with the leaders of Dak Nong province on its socio-economic development on July 17 as part of her trip to the Central Highlands region.

At the working session, Dak Nong Chairman Nguyen Bon briefed the Vice President on the continued growth in the province’s agriculture and industrial production over the first six months of 2018.

The province’s budget revenues reached VND1.231 trillion (US$53 million) while its exports were estimated at US$560 million. The average income per capita reached VND44 million (approximately US$1,900) in 2017.

He also pointed out a number of problems facing Dak Nong, including unplanned migration, high rates of poverty and undernourished children, and asked for assistance in these matters from the central government.

Vice President Thinh stated that the recent achievements recorded by Dak Nong were notable and expected the province to look to sustainable development and continue paying attention to poverty reduction and social welfare.

She also asked the Vietnamese Children Fund to support children in Dak Nong province’s disadvantaged areas to have access to adequate nutrition.

Earlier in the day, the Vice President visited and awarded presents to underprivileged children at two local schools.
