The awards ceremony was jointly held by the Central Organisation Commission, Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Communist Review, Vietnam Television and the Vietnamese Journalists Association, on January 25.

According to the organisers, they received more than 1,800 entries in various genres and topics from provinces and cities across the country.

The submissions covered the reality of the Party building work in 2018, namely the efforts to streamline the apparatus, prevent political and moral degradation, and the fight against corruption and wastefulness.

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan praised the media’s contributions to Party building and extended her congratulations to the winning journalists.

After two rounds of evaluation, the jury panel selected 56 best works to honour, including four A prizes, ten B prizes, 15 C prizes and 25 consolation prizes, as well as two prizes for an elderly writer and a group of young writers.

Nhan Dan Newspaper’s A prize belongs to a series of articles published in its Thoi Nay publication on creating a crop of young cadres in Hanoi.

At the ceremony, head of the Central Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh also called for entries for the Golden Hammer & Sickle Awards in 2019.
