NA Chairwoman receives delegation from Ben Tre’s Long-Haired Army

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a reception for a delegation from Ben Tre province’s Long-Haired Army, an all-female armed force during the resistance war against the US, in Hanoi on May 31.

Recalling the image of heroic Ben Tre women in the past struggle for national salvation, the top legislator expressed her pride as the province’s Long-Haired Army, which had the first female Vietnamese general Nguyen Thi Dinh, is not only well known in the country but have also won the admiration of international friends.

Ben Tre’s Long-Haired Army is the first of its kind nationwide to receive the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title, she said.

NA Chairwoman Ngan emphasised that the Party and State highly appreciate the sacrifices towards national independence and reunification made by the country’s soldiers and people, including Ben Tre’s Long-Haired Army.

She extended her warmest, deepest and most sincere sentiments to the army’s members, voicing her respect and gratitude for their devotions to the resistance war for national salvation in the past and in the current cause of national construction.

On behalf of the delegation, “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” Le Thi Hong spoke highly of the Party and State policies dedicated to national contributors, while petitioning the NA leader on the issue of ensuring efficiency and timeliness in the implementation of policies for national contributors in the locality.
