Can Tho People’s Council opens 14th session

The 9th People’s Council of the southern city of Can Tho convened its 14h session on December 4 to review the city’s performance in socio-economic development and national defence and security in 2019, and set forth solutions for 2020.

The session was attended by Politburo member and National Assembly Standing Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong.

Speaking at the session, NA Standing Vice Chairwoman Phong applauded efforts of the municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front, organisations and people in Can Tho over the past time.

She urged the People’s Council to point out the city’s advantages and disadvantages and their causes, especially subjective reasons, and responsibility of heads of agencies for the shortcomings.

Each member of the council should promote their role and responsibility to represent the will, aspirations, rights and interests of people, she noted.

She also asked the People’s Council to promptly and synchronously pass mechanisms and policies, especially those contributing to the rapid and effective use of the city’s potential and advantages, while reasonably allocating resources.
