On January 1, 2026, import and export vehicles completed customs clearance procedures quickly through the Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II.
The relevant agencies at the border gate coordinated smoothly, ensuring security and order, controlling the quality of goods, implementing trade regulations, and assisting businesses in completing procedures, minimising waiting times for businesses.
Pham Minh Hieu, a representative of the Middle East Import-Export Company, specialising in exporting agricultural products, said: “On the first day of the new year, customs clearance procedures were very smooth, and export goods went according to plan, saving businesses significant time and costs.”
According to data from the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs, in 2025, total state budget revenue reached over 1.212 trillion VND, and total import–export turnover reached over 1.8 billion USD. Key export items include dragon fruit, durian, lychee, cassava, wood, and coffee; main import items include vegetables, machinery, mechanical equipment, and fertilisers serving production, construction, and economic development.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Team, said that in 2025, despite many difficulties, import–export activities still achieved quite good results.
On the first day of 2026, customs forces fully implemented professional measures to ensure quick and smooth customs clearance. This was also an opportunity for customs officers to kick off a productive year, with the expectation of creating a strong breakthrough in import–export value and state budget revenue in the area.
