On May 18, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Mozambique solemnly held a ceremony to mark the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025).

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Tran Thi Thu Thin, all Embassy staff, representatives of Movitel telecommunications company, and members of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.

At the Embassy’s headquarters, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates offered incense in deep respect and remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh – the brilliant leader of the Vietnamese nation, a national liberation hero, and a world cultural figure.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin highlighted the immense contributions and historical stature of President Ho Chi Minh, affirming that his ideology, morality, and style are a priceless spiritual legacy of the Vietnamese people, and a powerful source of inspiration for oppressed nations around the world.

The Ambassador underlined that for African people in general, and the Mozambican people in particular, President Ho Chi Minh represents the spirit of independence, self-reliance, and the yearning for freedom. As a testament to the Mozambican people's admiration and respect for the Vietnamese leader, in 1977, shortly after the country’s independence, President Samora Machel – the first President of the People's Republic of Mozambique (now the Republic of Mozambique) – named a major avenue running past Maputo City Hall after President Ho Chi Minh - Ho Chi Minh Avenue.

Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin called on the Vietnamese community in Mozambique to continuously strive to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. She also stressed the important role of the Vietnamese community in preserving national identity, fostering solidarity and mutual support, building a strong and united community, integrating well with the host society, and actively contributing to the Viet Nam–Mozambique friendship.

Following the incense-offering ceremony, the delegates watched archival footage on the life and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and laid flowers at the Memorial Sign on Ho Chi Minh Avenue in Maputo.

On this occasion, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin also officially launched the “Photo Display Cabinet” at the Embassy’s headquarters, featuring beautiful images of President Ho Chi Minh in the hearts of international friends, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Viet Nam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), and a series of commemorative events for April 30 held in Maputo by the Embassy.
