The book “Ho Ci Min – Un uomo e un popolo” was published by Vie Nuove Magazine (New Roads), which was then the mouthpiece of the Italian Communist Party. It consisted of 12 issues, each covering a different topic arranged in historical order. The stories were written by journalists Paolo Bracaglia Morante and Camillo Pisani, accompanied by vivid illustrations by artist Pino Dangelico, and many valuable documentary photos, published in 1968.
The book shows that since the 1960s, the image and ideology of Ho Chi Minh have gone beyond the borders of Viet Nam and become a source of inspiration for many countries and peoples around the world.
The work “Ho Ci Min – Un uomo e un popolo” is a vivid testament to the strong support and sincere affection of international friends, especially the Italian people, for President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people.
The book contains valuable documents about the two resistance wars of the Vietnamese people. More specifically, the comic strips depict the life of President Ho Chi Minh associated with the history of the nation. The work guides readers to learn about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, from the boy Nguyen Sinh Cung, who witnessed the brutality of the feudal regime, to Nguyen Ai Quoc and later Ho Chi Minh, who led the revolutionary movement of the Vietnamese people to glorious victory.
In 2020, this special publication was presented to the Ho Chi Minh Museum by the Veneto region's Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association and then introduced by the Vietnam-Italy Friendship Association to Kim Dong Publishing House.
On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the book was translated and launched with the name "Ho Chi Minh - A man and a nation". This is a rare publication about President Ho Chi Minh’s life in the form of a comic book.
The Vietnamese edition was translated by translator Bui Thi Thai Duong, with the support of the Ho Chi Minh Museum and Associate Professor and Dr. Dinh Quang Hai from Institute of History, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
In the book's dedication, Tran Thanh Quyet, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam-Italy Friendship Association and Renato Darsiè, President of Veneto region’s Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association, shared that this book is a spiritual gift of Italian friends, who always admire the revolutionary path, life and ideology of President Ho Chi Minh - one of the great symbols of aspirations for independence, freedom and peace of the world.
