On May 16, the Embassy of Viet Nam in Israel solemnly held a ceremony to mark the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), the great leader of the Vietnamese people, national liberation hero, and world cultural icon.

Attending the event were: Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Ly Duc Trung, along with all staff members of the Embassy of Viet Nam, and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in Israel.

At the ceremony, delegates offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, expressing profound gratitude and infinite respect for the beloved leader who devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation and the people’s happiness.

In his speech, Ambassador Ly Duc Trung emphasised that the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh are a shining symbol of the ideal of national independence aligned with socialism, of patriotism, human compassion, profound wisdom, and boundless sacrifice for the people and the Fatherland.

Also attending the celebration were staff members of Vietnamese representative missions in France and officials from the administration of Sainte-Adresse City, where a commemorative plaque bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh is located.

After more than 30 years of travelling abroad to find a path to national salvation, President Ho Chi Minh was not only a steadfast revolutionary but also a great cultural figure and a friend to oppressed peoples around the world. He left behind an invaluable legacy, not only national independence and the foundation of a new regime, but also the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh. These continue to serve as the guiding light for all actions of the Vietnamese Party and people today and in the future.

Ambassador Ly Duc Trung noted that the Vietnamese community in Israel is becoming increasingly mature, united and closely connected. The spirit of Ho Chi Minh lives on in every meaningful act of the overseas Vietnamese—from preserving the Vietnamese language for the younger generation to supporting each other in times of difficulty and always turning toward the homeland with steadfast affection.

Ambassador Ly Duc Trung called on the Vietnamese community in Israel to continue studying and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style through practical actions—living simply, responsibly, staying united, supporting one another, and building a strong community in the host country.

On this occasion, the Embassy screened a documentary on the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. The film highlighted major historical milestones of the nation, with a special emphasis on the leadership and strategic vision of President Ho Chi Minh, including a historical account of his meeting with David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel, in Paris in 1946.
