President presents appointment decision to Chairman of VPA General Department of Politics

President To Lam presented a decision on the appointment of Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet as Chairman of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), at a ceremony held in Hanoi on June 3.

The event was also attended by Politburo members: General Luong Cuong, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)'s Secretariat; Le Minh Hung, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Organisation; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence.

On June 1, 2024, President To Lam signed the decision to appoint Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Vice Chairman of the General Department of Politics under the VPA, as Chairman of the General Department of Politics.

Addressing the ceremony, President To Lam affirmed that the appointment decision is a great honour to comrade Trinh Van Quyet and shared joy for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as demonstrates the trust of the Party, State, people, the Army and the people's armed forces.

The appointment is also the recognition and appreciation for Senior Lieutenant General Quyet’s contributions and dedication to the Army’s Party and political work in recent years, added the President.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President To Lam asked Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet to continue to uphold the glorious tradition of the General Department of Politics and the heroic Vietnam People's Army; maintain revolutionary ethical standards; be absolutely loyal to the Party, the country and people; wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people; always study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; and successfully fulfil all assigned tasks.

The State leader also noted that Quyet, together with the leaders of the General Department of Politics, should actively take care of developing Party committees and organisations, and the People's Army forces, truly pure and strong. It is also crucial to pay great attention to educating, training and fostering officers and soldiers of the entire army, he added.

For his party, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet expressed his honour to receive the appointment and affirmed that this is not only an honour and pride but also an extremely heavy responsibility that the Party, State, Army and people entrust.

He promised that he would thoroughly grasp the President’s direction; be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; and work closely with the Central Military Commission, leaders of National Defence and the General Department of Politics, to proactively study and advise the Party Central Committee, State and Government, in directing the implementation of military and defence tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the task of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland in the new situation.

He would continue to strive, cultivate, train, and maintain the revolutionary morality and prestige of a Party member and cadre; actively study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style; and be always ready to receive and fulfil all tasks assigned by the Party, State, Army, and people.
