According to the decision, the prime minister agreed with the proposal from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs concerning the schedule for the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday, as well as the adjustment of working days around the National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays in 2025.
Based on the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, officials, civil servants, and public employees will have a total of nine consecutive days off for Lunar New Year 2025. This includes five days of official Tet holidays and four days from regular weekends.
Specifically, the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 will last 5 days, from Monday, January 27, to Friday, January 31, (corresponding to the 28th day of the 12th lunar month of 2024 to the 3rd day of the first lunar month of 2025).
Since all five official Tet holidays fall on weekdays in 2025, workers will be granted two additional weekend days off before Tet and two more after Tet.
Thus, under this plan, officials, civil servants, and employees in administrative agencies, public service units, political organisations, and socio-political organisations will be off work from January 25 to February 2, 2025.
This schedule allows workers more time to spend with their families while also boosting tourism and shopping activities.
