Thai Nguyen: Ceremony marks 80th anniversary of August Revolution

A ceremony was held in Thai Nguyen province on August 20 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day, and the 80th anniversary of the Thai Nguyen provincial revolutionary government (1945-2025).

Delegates at the event recalled the heroic tradition and the province’s development journey.

Thai Nguyen has recorded an average economic growth over 7% annually and its economy estimated at over 200 trillion VND by 2025.

On July 1, 2025, Thai Nguyen merged with Bac Kan to form a new province with great development potential. It aims to become an electronics industrial centre and smart, green sustainable urban area by 2030.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trinh Viet Hung emphasised the province’s determination to successfully implement Party resolutions, uphold revolutionary traditions, and prepare for upcoming Party congresses in 2025–2030 and the 14th National Party Congress.

He affirmed Thai Nguyen will exploit its potential, ensure political security, attract investment, targeting to become a modern industrial centre with upper-middle-income status by 2030, and achieve high-income status before 2045.

The province will also exert effort to build a clean and strong Party and political system, he added.

Prior to the celebration, provincial leaders paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, war heroes and fallen soldiers at historical sites.
