National solidarity is a precious tradition of the Vietnamese people, forged through thousands of years of history and via the building and defence of the country. The great national unity bloc has created a great source of strength, established glorious achievements, is considered the basic condition for the success of the cause of national liberation in the past, as well as being the core of national renewal, construction and development today.
The Party and State have issued many guidelines and policies on promoting the great national unity bloc, in order to help the VFF perform its tasks of gathering, building and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc; as well as implementing democracy, strengthening social consensus; representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people; social monitoring and criticism; participating in building the Party and State, facilitating people-to-people diplomacy and contributing to building and defending the Fatherland.
Patriotic emulation campaigns and movements launched by the VFF have focused on socio-economic development, building new-style rural areas, and sustainable poverty reduction. Through social monitoring and criticism, the Front has participated in building a clean and strong Party and government; preventing and fighting against corruption and wastefulness.
The VFF leader also highlighted valuable lessons drawn from promoting the strength of great national unity bloc and the activities of the VFF as follows:
Firstly, maintaining and enhancing the leadership of the Party is the decisive factor for the Front to gather all forces in building, consolidating and promoting the great national unity bloc.
Secondly, in all activities, the political system must deeply grasp the concept of “People are the roots”, arouse the creativity and support of the people as well as respect and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the people.
Thirdly, it is necessary to ensure synchronous and effective coordination among the agencies of the Party, State, and the VFF as well as negotiate and coordinate the actions of member organisations.
Fourthly, the Front must always keep in mind President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching: "What is beneficial to the people must be done, what is harmful to the people must be avoided".
Fifthly, the practice of democracy should go hand in hand with strengthening discipline, solidarity should be associated with fighting against wrong acts that affect the bloc.
In order to bring fully into play the results achieved and overcome all limitations, Party committees and authorities at all levels and the whole political system need to thoroughly grasp President iso Chi Minh’s thought on the great national unity bloc; and implement consistently the point of view: Revolution is the cause of the people, by the people and for the people; creating a favourable environment for the people to develop their talents and creativity and bring great benefit to the country.
Ministries, sectors and localities need to implement socio-economic development policies in areas with large numbers of ethnic minorities; mobilise overseas Vietnamese to contribute their intelligence, talents and resources to national construction and development and contribute to strengthening friendly solidarity, international cooperation, forming a broad front to support the cause of national renewal, construction and defence.
In the coming time, the VFF should better promote the role of its member organisations; gather the strength of people in the country as well as the overseas Vietnamese in a joint effort to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
