This event marks a new development step, continuing to open new directions for youths, the Federation, and the youth movement of the country at a time when Vietnam is facing many opportunities and challenges in the process of developing a socialist-oriented market economy, international integration, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, non-traditional security issues, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the global economic crisis.
The Party and President Ho Chi Minh have always placed deep trust and high expectations in the younger generation; focusing on caring for, educating, nurturing, and fostering the desire to contribute, creativity, autonomy, and the potential of youth.
Many policies and guidelines for youth work have been issued and effectively applied in practice, thus promoting the youth movement's development and laying the foundation for youth to build careers, assert their capabilities, and develop their own identity. Among these, the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress highlighted a key new point about "the aspiration for innovation and the development of the country" as a call to encourage the youth to nurture dreams and aspirations and actively contribute their youthful energy towards building and protecting the nation.
Under the Party's leadership, with the core role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, during the 2019-2024 term, the Federation's work and the youth movement achieved significant results, positively contributing to the country's overall achievements.
The organisation and activities of the Federation always ensure the core political role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, with innovative methods that focus on the legitimate and rightful needs and interests of its members and youth.
The "I Love My Homeland" movement continues to be widely implemented, gaining strong appeal and spreading effectively among the youth. It has encouraged and motivated large numbers of young people to participate with concrete and practical actions. Many new models and effective approaches have been launched, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Efforts to unite and gather youth, particularly those from ethnic minority groups, religious communities, and workers in industrial zones and dormitories, have seen significant progress, with a highlight being the establishment of the Vietnam Association of Youth with Disabilities.
In response to the deep trust and expectations of the Party, State, and people, the majority of Vietnamese youth are aware of their responsibility to the nation and the people. They have confidence in the leadership of the Party on the path towards socialism, always ready to make sacrifices for national interest and sovereignty.
However, there is still a segment of youth who lack ideals, prioritise a hedonistic and pragmatic lifestyle, lack determination, and fall into social vices and unhealthy trends, including violating the law.
Meanwhile, the Federation's propaganda and educational work has not yet reached all youth groups. The efforts to counteract and combat unhealthy trends and movements at certain times have been passive. The ability to update and understand youth trends, creating a positive trend in cyberspace to attract members at some levels of the Federation and young people has not been given proper attention, and implementation has been slow. The methods for uniting and gathering youth have been innovative but still uneven, not fully meeting the fast-paced changes in youth situations and social life. The application of information technology in member management and in organising Federation activities has been lacking in uniformity.
In the face of global challenges and the complex developments in the world situation, as the country stands on the threshold of a new era of national advancement, the work of uniting, gathering, and guiding the youth has become increasingly important and urgent. This requires the Vietnam Youth Federation to elevate its thinking, take more decisive actions, and continue to innovate in the implementation of solutions, constantly striving to renew the content and methods of its activities. It is essential to particularly focus on fulfilling the mission of caring for, accompanying, and expanding the frontlines of unity, bringing together all segments of Vietnamese youth both at home and abroad, creating favourable conditions for the youth to develop in a healthy, comprehensive, and balanced manner, intellectually, physically, and aesthetically.
Party committees and local authorities must continue to pay more attention to the youth work, stressing the strengthening of direction, guidance, and the creation of favourable conditions for the Vietnam Youth Federation to expand and achieve concrete and practical results in its activities and work. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union must continue to perform its core political role effectively, working closely in coordination with the Youth Federation to expand the frontlines of youth unity and gathering.
