Officials, Party members, and residents in An Giang province view the public consultation on the draft documents for the 14th National Party Congress as a historic and important step in exercising democracy, tapping into collective wisdom, and laying a strong foundation for the country’s sustainable development in the new era.

Huynh Van Thon, Labour Hero and Chairman of Loc Troi Group, said that the broad public consultation on the draft documents is a powerful and meaningful demonstration. It not only enhances the quality of the documents but also embodies the principle of “people know, discuss, do, inspect, supervise, and benefit,” mobilising the wisdom and determination of the people to guide the country’s development in the era of the nation’s rise.

From a business perspective, Thon noted that the orientations outlined in the draft documents, particularly the emphasis on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers, reflect a strategic vision and the aspiration for rapid and sustainable national development.

Regarding the Mekong Delta region, he noted that the application of high-tech solutions and smart agriculture is the inevitable answer to achieving long-term sustainable development.

He stressed the need to urgently study and consider reforming science and technology development policies in accordance with international standards, while granting autonomy and providing appropriate support to enable big enterprises and corporations to become key motivation of the national economy.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, at An Giang University under Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), said the draft documents reflect the Party’s strategic vision, viewing culture not only as a spiritual foundation, an internal resource, and a major societal driver but also as a strategic “soft power” that contributes to elevating Viet Nam’s national stature and resilience in the era of integration.

To harness the “soft power” of culture effectively, Hieu suggested that the Party and State should translate it into concrete action programmes linked to education, science and technology, and especially cultural diplomacy, thus strongly foster patriotism, confidence, self-reliance, and the aspiration to build a prosperous nation, while enabling Viet Nam to advance its foreign relations in the new era.

Representing Party members, Ngo Ngoc Chuan, Deputy Director of An Giang Newspaper, and Radio - Television, stated the draft documents reflect a bold and well-founded vision to lead the nation into a new era, overcoming the middle-income trap, towards becoming e a high-income developed country by 2045.

The Party and State should focus on institutional breakthroughs and resource mobilisation, develop frameworks for emerging sectors like digital economy, green transition, and innovation; improving the quality of officials through training, especially those having strategic vision and decisive execution ability in a global competitive environment; and strengthening power oversight and strictly addressing corruption and misconduct to reinforce public trust.
