The provincial Steering Committee for the search, recovery and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains held a flower and incense offering ceremony on October 7 before handing over the samples.

Over the past two months, under the 500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery and identification of fallen soldiers’ remains, 12 teams in Quang Ngai have excavated 13,514 graves and collected more than 9,000 biological samples.

The latest handover is the fourth batch of samples sent to the Military Forensic Institute for DNA testing.

Each recovered set of remains represents both historical evidence and a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for national independence and freedom. For families who have waited for decades for news of their loved ones, every sample submitted for DNA testing carries hope of finally learning the identity of a fallen family member.

Quang Ngai’s Party organisation, authorities, people and armed forces are working to fulfil the objectives of the 500-day campaign, guided by the national tradition of remembering those who made sacrifices for the country.

The identification effort is also becoming increasingly urgent as the relatives of fallen soldiers grow older.

Despite the challenges, the province is determined to continue searching for and identifying the remains of fallen soldiers, helping bring closure to families who have waited for their loved ones for many years.
