Prior to departure, the 9th Military Region held a solemn incense-offering ceremony honouring the fallen heroes and martyrs.

In a solemn atmosphere, provincial and municipal leaders, alongside delegates from the 9th Military Region, respectfully offered incense in remembrance and gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.

Following the ceremony, the flag-draped boxes containing the remains were loaded onto a CASA C-295 military transport aircraft.

The samples filled roughly 161 specialised boxes. An Giang alone accounted for 4,762 samples across 40 boxes.

Before transportation, the records and specimens were carefully reviewed and cross-checked. The packing, preservation, and handover processes strictly followed established protocols to ensure accuracy and safety while preserving sample integrity.

An Giang Vice Chairman Le Van Phuoc emphasised that transporting the samples for DNA testing marks a critical step toward identifying the unknown martyrs.

Upon arrival at Gia Lam Military Airport in Ha Noi, the remains samples will be transferred to the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology for examination in preparation for DNA testing.
