The war ended long ago, but around 230,000 martyrs’ graves remain unidentified, while the remains of approximately 175,000 fallen soldiers have yet to be recovered. Restoring their names is therefore not only a responsibility and a duty, but also a mission that comes from the heart of every Vietnamese person.

Nearly 1,400 sets of fallen soldiers’ remains have been recovered nationwide after four months of implementing the 500-day campaign to search for and recover soldiers whose burial locations or identities remain unknown.

The Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) organised a ceremony in Ha Noi on December 11 to announce DNA identification results of the remains of fallen soldiers, using a newly developed genomic analysis process (NGS–SNP).
