Tien said Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) have seen cooperation between their hospitals and medical schools for many years.

Vietnam wants to partner with the RoK in training for medical profession certification, building a financial mechanism for the health sector, including health insurance, and improving public health, she added.

The signing of the new MoU is essential for the two sides to discuss specific and most feasible cooperation in the field, she noted.

Park said the acceptance of each other’s medical profession certification should be considered despite differences in their training curricula.

He said the RoK is willing to share information with Vietnam on health insurance and public health improvement. The two sides could also collaborate in producing medicine, the Korean minister suggested.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation attended the opening of the 10th Global Healthcare and Medical Tourism Conference (Medical Korea 2019).
