Le Tu Chinh will compete in her last event at the Asian Games 2018 in the women's 4x100m relay tonight.

In particular, Le Tu Chinh, the golden hope of the Vietnamese track and field team, will have the last chance to prove her ability in the women's 4x100m relay tonight.

Chinh failed to impress in her previous favoured events, the women’s 100m and 200m, after claiming three gold medals in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in the three above events. She will join teammates Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Ha Thi Thu and Luu Kim Phung in the women's 4x100m relay final at 6.45 pm.

In addition, the women’s triple jump will also be noticeable with the presence of a Vietnamese athlete. After winning the gold medal in the long jump, Bui Thi Thu Thao was expected to continue her impressive performance in the triple jump event, although it is not her favourite event. Unfortunately, according to information sent from Jakarta, Thao decided to withdraw from the event tonight for health reasons. Thao's highly regarded teammate, Vu Thi Men, is the only Vietnamese athlete to compete in the women’s triple jump.

In addition, the medal hope will also be placed on the women’s 4x400m relay team in their first competition at the Asian Games after winning the silver medal at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships last July.

The remaining two finals involving Vietnamese athletes this evening will be the women's 1,500m with Nguyen Thi Oanh running and Nguyen Van Lai's in the men's 5,000m. Today is also the last day for track and field competition at the Games.

This morning, Vietnamese athletes also competed in the women's canoe double (C2) 500m. Although trying their best, Truong Thi Phuong and Nguyen Thi Ngan only finished in sixth position with a time of 2:10.010.

Vietnamese sepak takraw men's quadrant team beat Iran 2-0 in Group B preliminary.

In the qualifying round of the sepak takraw quadrant this afternoon, both the Vietnamese men and women’s teams beat Iran and Malaysia, respectively, with the same 2-0 score. The men’s team will play against Singapore this afternoon, while the women’s team will face their Japanese rivals.

Judo fighters Nguyen Tan Cong, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Nguyen Ngoc Diem Phuong and Nguyen Thi Dieu Tien failed to qualify after the elimination rounds.

This morning, three Vietnamese table tennis players, including Nguyen Duc Tuan, Nguyen Anh Tu and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh participated in the men's and women's singles events. All of the three athletes successfully beat their opponents in the opening matches but Dieu Khanh could not cause a surprise when facing world No. 3 Chinese Cheng Meng in women's singles round 32. Dieu Khanh quickly surrendered in four games with humiliating scores of 1-11, 3-11, 2-11 and 3-11. Nguyen Duc Tuan and Nguyen Anh Tu will continue to compete in the men's singles round 32 this afternoon.

After match day 11 on August 29, Vietnam had bagged four gold, 15 silver, and 13 bronze medals, jumping to 13th place in the medal tally from 20th place as of 10pm of August 28.
