Sports project launched for people with disabilities

The Vietnam Paralympic Committee and Sports Development JSC held a ceremony on April 22 in Ho Chi Minh City to sign a cooperation agreement on implementing community sports development activities for persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the 2024-2029 period and launch the project ‘Sports for Tomorrow’.

Under the agreement, the two sides will coordinate to organise communication activities to raise awareness and encourage PwDs to participate in sports activities.

Accordingly, sports activities will be held regularly for PwDs communities across the country, helping them to improve their physical and spiritual life.

Both sides will also work to mobilise more partners to participate in developing sports activities for PwDs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Paralympic Committee Huynh Vinh Ai shared that developing community sports for PwDs is identified as a key task of the Committee.

He stressed that the launch of the project ‘Sports for Tomorrow’ not only demonstrates the strong commitment of both sides to promoting equality and social inclusion for PwDS but also contributes to successfully releasing the Vietnam Paralympic Committee’s goal of attracting 1.5 million out of more than 7 million PwDs nationwide to participate in sports and physical activities by 2030.

For his part, Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Chairman of Sport Development JSC, emphasised that the company will strive to make further contributions to developing sports movement for PwDs.

At the ceremony, the organises presented gifts worth 150 million VND to athletes with disabilities.
