Speaking at a press conference before the match, Vietnam’s head coach, Kim Sang-sik, said he was looking for the best result to create a winning morale for Vietnamese players.
He said, “The first match is always important. We have many good players, and the team needs to concretise what they have been preparing in the past few weeks.”
Kim also showed his respect for the Lao side, which has improved under the coaching of a Korean manager, citing a 1-1 draw with Thailand in a friendly last month.
Besides a good start for the team, Kim said he also wanted to bring joy to Vietnamese fans.
He said, “I know there will be many fans from Vietnam as well as those living and working in Laos coming to support the team. We must try our best to please them.”
The match between Vietnam and Laos is scheduled to begin at 8 pm on December 9 at the Lao National Stadium.
