Nearly 18,000 athletes gather for Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon

Nearly 18,000 Vietnamese and international athletes have gathered for the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon, which kicked off on December 6.

Participants will compete in 42km, 21km, 10km, 5km, and Kids Run events on December 8.

The event, the 7th of its kind, is among the prominent activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, welcomed athletes attending the event, which "not only aims to advertise Ho Chi Minh City as a dynamic city but also to promote sports-tourism.”

For his part, Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, stressed that the Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon is a clear demonstration of the strong development of community sports activities in the city.

The event not only attracts the participation of thousands of athletes but also contributes to promoting a healthy lifestyle, creating opportunities for people to connect with each other and spread a dynamic and positive lifestyle, he stated.
