70 bikers to attend “Return to Dien Bien Phu” cycling tournament

The “Return to Dien Bien Phu – 2024, People’s Army Newspaper Cup” cycling tournament will take place from May 1-5, with the participation of 70 professional athletes, marking the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024).

The information was announced at a press conference held by People’s Army Newspaper in Hanoi on April 25.

The event will see the competition of 70 bikers from 10 teams, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7, An Giang, Dong Thap, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Vinh Long, Thanh Hoa and Hoa Binh.

Racers will compete on a route of 525km from Hanoi to Dien Bien Phu City in Dien Bien Province.

Speaking at the press conference, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper and head of the Organising Board, said that within the framework of the race, many activities will be organised to promote social security and show gratitude to contributors of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In addition, the Organising Board will also hold a multiple-choice contest on Dien Bien Phu in the People’s Army Newspaper, a photo contest on the cycling race moments, and a display of photos of the previous races.
