The tournament, which is sponsored jointly by the People’s Army Newspaper and the Vietnam Motor-Bicycle Sports Federation, is scheduled to be held from May 1-6 as part of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
The cyclists will race in six stages for a total of 555 km. The stage race begins at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi before running through Hoa Binh and Son La cities and finishing in Dien Bien city on May 6.
Also on the occasion, the organisers will present 800 gifts and 120 scholarships worth a total of nearly VND1 billion (US$47,000) to war veterans in Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La and Dien Bien cities, and to the children of policy beneficiaries in Dien Bien province.
