Nguyen Thi Tam failed to repeat her final triumph over Pang Chol Mi in last year’s Asian championship, losing 0-4 to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea opponent with a score of 0-4 in the women’s 51kg semifinal and settling for a bronze overall.

The Vietnam sepak takraw team beat Pakistan 2-0 in the men’s quadrant preliminary but missed out on a place in the gold medal match following their semifinal 0-2 defeat against the Japanese.

However, the women’s quadrant event witnessed the brilliance of Vietnamese players as they saw off the Indonesian team 2-1 in the semifinal, thereby qualifying for tomorrow’s final clash against Thailand.

In canoeing, Vietnam’s Truong Thi Phuong made it through to the women’s canoe single (C1) 200m finals after finishing fourth in the qualification with a time of 52.806 seconds.
