Motor racing - Formula One excited by Vietnam possibilities, says Carey

Formula One is excited by the possibility of a race in Vietnam as part of an expansion in Asia but Europe remains the bedrock of the sport, chief executive Chase Carey said on Monday. Formula One has been discussing with the Vietnamese authorities about staging a street race in Hanoi, possibly as early as 2020, but a deal has yet to be confirmed.

* Nathan Ake headed in a late equaliser as the Netherlands held 10-man Italy 1-1 in Monday's (June 4) international friendly in Turin between two heavyweights who failed to qualify for the World Cup.

* Belgium have retained injured Vincent Kompany in their final World Cup squad but put fellow defender Laurent Ciman on standby in case the Manchester City skipper is not fit for their opening match in Russia. Coach Roberto Martinez had been expected to cut his initial 28-man squad by five players on Monday (June 4) but instead named 24, including Kompany.

* Swansea City are set to name Graham Potter as manager after they agreed a compensation package with Swedish side Ostersund, the Welsh club announced on Monday. Potter has agreed personal terms and will replace Portuguese manager Carlos Carvalhal who left Swansea following their relegation to the second-tier Championship after seven years in the Premier League.

* Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was banned for two matches by UEFA on Monday after being found guilty of communicating with his staff despite being sent to the stands in his team's Champions League quarter-final second-leg defeat by Liverpool.

* Midfielder Valon Behrami is set to become the first player to represent Switzerland at four World Cups after being included on Monday in the final 23-man squad for the tournament in Russia.

* Attacking midfielder Leroy Sane was a surprise omission from Joachim Loew's final Germany squad for the World Cup finals on Monday as goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was named among the 23 players heading to Russia for the defending champions.
