* Brendon Todd ended five years of frustration as the American shot a career best nine-under 62 to win the inaugural Bermuda Championship by four strokes on Sunday. Defying his world number 525 ranking, Todd rolled in 10 birdies, seven of them in a row, against one bogey for the second PGA Tour victory of his up-and-down career and first since 2014.
* Manchester City playmaker David Silva is a doubt for Sunday's Premier League clash with leaders Liverpool after sustaining a muscular injury at the weekend, manager Pep Guardiola has said. Silva has featured in all 11 of City's league games so far this season and started in their 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday but the 33-year-old was replaced by striker Gabriel Jesus just before halftime.
* La Liga side Celta Vigo have sacked coach Fran Escriba hours after his side were beaten 1-0 at home to Getafe on Sunday. Sunday's defeat to Getafe was Celta's fourth defeat in a row and left them 18th in the standings on nine points after 12 games, two behind Real Mallorca who occupy the last berth outside the drop zone.
* Real Sociedad went level on points with La Liga leaders Barcelona after snatching a 2-1 victory away to fellow high-flyers Granada on Sunday thanks to a late strike from forward Cristian Portu. The victory took Real Sociedad third on the standings on 22 points after 12 games, level with second-placed Real Madrid and leaders Barcelona, who both have a game in hand.
* St Etienne confirmed their resurgence under coach Claude Puel when a Denis Bouanga second-half goal earned them a 1-0 home victory against Monaco in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The result lifted St Etienne up to eighth in the standings on 18 points from 12 games, nine behind leaders Paris St Germain but only two adrift of second-placed Angers.
* German champions Bayern Munich have parted company with coach Niko Kovac, a day after a 5-1 thrashing away to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, the club said on Sunday. Assistant coach Hans Flick will take charge of Bayern's Champions League clash with Olympiakos on Wednesday and for next Saturday's key clash with Borussia Dortmund.
* Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min was left in tears after being involved in an incident that resulted in a sickening injury to Everton's Andre Gomes on Sunday. Son was shown a red card after Gomes collapsed to the ground with what looked like a serious injury to his lower right leg.
* Fiorentina missed out on the chance to draw level on points with seventh-placed Napoli as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Parma in Serie A on Sunday. The draw means Vincenzo Montella’s side remain eighth in the table on 16 points, with Parma just two points behind them in 10th place.
* Schalke 04's Amine Harit scored an 82nd-minute winner as his team twice came from a goal down to beat hosts Augsburg 3-2 in the Bundesliga on Sunday and move level on points with fourth-placed Bayern Munich. Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg lifted them to second place on 19, leaving Bayern a point behind after slumping to a 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt. RB Leipzig and Freiburg are also on 18.
* Brendan Rodgers believes his high-flying Leicester City side can get even better as they mount an increasingly impressive challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League. Leicester followed up their 9-0 hammering of Southampton last week with a clinical 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday to move back above Chelsea into third place in the table.
* World number one Novak Djokovic saw off Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-3 6-4 to win a record-extending fifth Paris Masters title on Sunday in a warning to his rivals ahead of the ATP Finals. D Nadal's participation in the Finals is in doubt after the Spaniard sustained an abdominal injury in the warm-up to Saturday's semi-final in Paris. Twenty-times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer skipped the event to be fresh for the season-ender at the O2.
* Spaniard Alex Marquez followed in the footsteps of older brother Marc on Sunday by winning the Moto2 championship at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Marc Marquez, who won his sixth MotoGP title with the Repsol Honda works team in Thailand last month, was also crowned Moto2 champion in 2012.
* Ashleigh Barty finished the season in style by beating defending champion Elina Svitolina 6-4 6-3 to add the WTA Finals title to her end-of-year world number one ranking on Sunday. Barty became the first Australian to win the WTA Finals since Evonne Goolagong Cawley claimed her second title in 1976.
* Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy hit a towering approach shot to set up a birdie at the first extra hole and win the WGC-HSBC Champions in a playoff with American Xander Schauffele in Shanghai on Sunday. After defending champion Schauffele had birdied the par-five 18th in the final round to tie in regulation, McIlroy prevailed in sudden death, relieved to escape with his fourth victory of the year, and the 26th of his decade-long professional career.
