“Vietnam U22s met Brunei once previously at the 2020 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. We will be careful and will make the best possible preparations to achieve the best result,” Park told reporters during a press conference held on Sunday for the SEA Games men’s football tournament in the Philippines.

According to the Republic of Korea tactician, Group B is highly competitive, with the presence of six teams, one more than Group A.

“Group B has one team more than Group A, so it is very difficult to maintain fitness. In a group with many strong opponents, such as Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore, the schedule of one match every two days will bring a lot of surprise. We will try to rotate the squad to attain the best results.”

On the afternoon of November 24, Vietnam U22s had a training session at Laguna’s Binan Football Stadium to get familiar with the artificial turf there in preparation for their opening Group B clash against Brunei.

Coach Park Hang-seo reminds the players of their plans before entering the session.

The tight schedule of five games in 10 days in the group stage has forced Park to make thorough calculations concerning the use of players to both achieve the best results and ensure strength for the whole SEA Games title race.
