“It is hard to predict a football match but anything can happen before the final whistle,” the 27-year-old forward told the FIFA correspondent ahead of Vietnam’s away meeting against Australia in the first leg of the 2020 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifiers play-off this Friday (March 6).

Despite Vietnam’s poor head-to-head record against their opponents, Nhu insisted that they would fight to the best of their ability. “I want to work hard and showcase what I am capable of in each match,” she went on. “I hope that we can make history by sealing our maiden Olympic qualification.”

In the interview, FIFA.com also highlighted the Vietnamese forward’s standout performances during the qualifying campaign thus far, including her three goals against Uzbekistan, Hong Kong (China) and Jordan en route to the play-off.

Heading into the match as the underdogs, Vietnam still can produce a stir against hosts Australia, it said, stating that even a draw in Newcastle would give Mai Duc Chung’s side a psychological edge heading into the return leg at Cua Ong Stadium five days later.

The Vietnamese team have now been in Newcastle to prepare for their play-off first leg against Australia at McDonald Jones Stadium on March 6.
