Spanish FA agrees to clubs' request to play Copa final with spectators

The Spanish soccer association (RFEF) has said it will grant the request of Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad to reschedule the postponed Copa del Rey final for when the coronavirus is no longer a threat so the match can be played with spectators.

* Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson will face off against Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff in a skins match to raise money for the coronavirus relief effort, organisers announced on Monday. The TaylorMade Driving Relief event will take place on May 17 at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida, a joint statement said.

* US broadcaster ESPN has reached an agreement with the Republic of Korea's Korea Baseball Organisation to air games in the upcoming 2020 season, the network said in a statement on Monday (May 4). ESPN will televise six regular season games per week, starting with coverage from the opening day of the 2020 KBO campaign on Tuesday.

* Sassuolo on Monday became the first Italian top-flight club to resume training following the coronavirus stoppage although it was still a long way from normality with only a handful of players running up and down empty pitches.

* Former Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou has been suspended by German club Hertha Berlin after posting a video showing him flaunting coronavirus social distancing rules by shaking hands with teammates. Kalou, who won the Premier League with the Blues in 2010, apologised for his actions and said he should have known better because of his involvement in health projects in his homeland.

* Swimming's world governing body FINA rescheduled the 2021 Fukuoka aquatics world championships to May 2022 on Monday (Apr 4) to avoid a clash with the postponed Tokyo Olympics. The new dates for the swimming event in the Japanese city are May 13-29, 2022.

* SailGP's four remaining second season races have been rescheduled to next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and results from the first race have been declared null and void, the sailing championship said on Monday (May 4). The championship was suspended after the first race in Sydney in February, which was won by a British team led by four-times Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie.

* Goalkeeper Loris Karius has terminated his contract with Turkish side Besiktas following a dispute over unpaid wages, the on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper said on Monday (May 4). The 26-year-old Karius will now return to Liverpool following the termination of his deal in Turkey.

* Cristiano Ronaldo has been recalled from Portugal as Serie A clubs get back to individual training on Monday (May 4) after a two-month coronavirus lockdown, but doubts remain over whether the championship can return.

* Formula One has agreed a US$145 million (116.73 million pounds) budget cap for teams next year and will continue to try and tighten that for future seasons, managing director Ross Brawn said on Monday (May 4).

* The French League (LFP) will take out a state guaranteed loan to pay clubs in its top two tiers the money they would have received from television broadcasts if the season had not been abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it said on Monday. The LFP decided to end the 2019-20 season on Thursday, with Paris St Germain being awarded the Ligue 1 title and Lorient crowned Ligue 2 champions.
