City scored twice in 83 seconds in the second half to notch an 11th successive away league win and will be confirmed as champions if Liverpool win at Manchester United on Sunday. Pep Guardiola's side have 80 points with four games left, while second-placed United are on 67 with five to play.

* Chelsea's 2-0 home win over Fulham cemented them in fourth place while leaving their London rivals facing almost certain relegation and Brighton & Hove Albion took a massive leap towards safety by beating visiting Leeds United 2-0. Fourth-placed Chelsea have 61, six ahead of West Ham United who travel to Burnley on Monday. Leicester City, who drew 1-1 with 10-man Southampton on Friday, are third on 63 points.

* Aston Villa rekindled their hopes of playing in European competition next season after a superb late goal from Anwar El Ghazi gave them a 2-1 win at Everton in an action-packed Premier League clash on Saturday. The result left Everton, who have won only one of their last 10 league matches at home, eighth on 52 points from 33 games while Villa moved two places up to ninth on 48 points.

* Lille stayed firmly on track for a first Ligue 1 title since 2011 when goals by Burak Yilmaz and Mehmet Zeki Celik sent them back to the top of the table with a 2-0 home win against 10-man Nice on Saturday. Lille lead PSG by one point and third-placed AS Monaco, who host fourth-placed Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday, by five.

* Real Madrid's Brazilian duo Eder Militao and Casemiro struck in the second half to secure a 2-0 home win over stubborn Osasuna on Saturday and keep the heat on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid. The win took second-placed Real to 74 points from 34 games after Atletico had moved onto 76 by riding their luck to win 1-0 at Elche earlier on Saturday.

* Borussia Dortmund struck four times in 16 first-half minutes as they crushed second division Holstein Kiel 5-0 on Saturday to reach the German Cup final where they will face RB Leipzig. Dortmund, who last won the Cup in 2017, will face Leipzig, who eliminated Werder Bremen in extra time on Friday, at Berlin's Olympic stadium on May 13.

* Mercedes expect to start contract talks soon with Lewis Hamilton after the seven-times Formula One world champion indicated he intends to race on next season, team boss Toto Wolff said on Saturday. Hamilton and Mercedes spent much of last year negotiating before they announced a one-year deal in February, with the season starting in March.

* Inter Milan's Christian Eriksen scored midway through the second half to set the runaway Serie A leaders on the way to a 2-0 win at Crotone on Saturday that moved them within a point of clinching the title and confirmed their hosts' relegation. Inter are on 82 points, 14 clear of second-placed Atalanta, and need one point to guarantee a first league title since 2010 due to their superior head-to-head record over the Bergamo club.

* Norwich City were crowned champions of the second-tier Championship on Saturday as they roared back to beat Reading 4-1 at Carrow Road. Meanwhile, second-placed Watford went down 2-0 at Brentford, who had already booked a playoff spot.

* Diving and volleyball on Saturday became the first Olympic test events to include international athletes since such competitions resumed last month, as both got under way under close supervision in Tokyo.

* Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo claimed pole position on Saturday for the Spanish MotoGP and six-times world champion Marc Marquez will start 14th on the grid after crashing during the third free practice session. Quartararo, who leads the championship after winning two of the opening three races this season, set the early pace in the final qualifying session before securing top spot with a time of one minute, 36.755 seconds.

* Valtteri Bottas took pole position for the Portuguese Grand Prix on Saturday to deny Mercedes team mate and championship leader Lewis Hamilton a record-extending 100th by a mere 0.007 of a second. Red Bull's Max Verstappen, a point behind Hamilton after two races, will start third after having his first flying lap on soft tyres of one minute 18.209 seconds deleted for running too wide.
