The expanded BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting has just concluded in New Delhi. The meeting underscored the need to continue reforming the global governance system and strengthening the voice of developing countries in addressing global challenges.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang has put forward a range of cooperation priorities between BRICS and partner countries at the Expanded BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting, underscoring the need to strengthen resilience through both internal capacity and international collaboration.

Leaders of BRICS countries recently attended an extraordinary virtual summit to exchange views on pressing global issues, focusing particularly on ways to address protectionism, unilateral trade measures, and to strengthen intra-bloc economic and trade cooperation.

Delegates said that room for economic cooperation between the two countries is still very large and not commensurate with the potential as well as the political and diplomatic relations, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in November 2024.

PM Chinh affirmed that the two countries have great potential to develop agricultural cooperation on the basis of having a large market, complementary strengths and the prospect of being soon connected by free trade agreements.

PM Chinh suggested Brazil and Vasco da Gama increase cooperation activities and support Viet Nam in developing football, such as training and educating players, especially improving players' physical strength and skills, improving management capacity, developing brands, mobilising and managing resources, organising competitions, as well as continuing to "export" Brazilian players to Viet Nam and Vietnamese players to Brazil.

PM Chinh asserted Viet Nam's strong commitment and active contributions to the common efforts to promote peace, cooperation and development, promoting the role of Southern countries in global governance institutions, at the same time, demonstrating Viet Nam's support and contributions to the success of BRICS during Brazil's presidency.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and the delegation of Viet Nam set foot at Galeao Airport in Rio de Janeiro city on early July 5 morning (local time), starting his participation in the expanded BRICS Summit and bilateral activities in Brazil.

Becoming a partner of BRICS will help Viet Nam diversify its relations, strengthen its political and diplomatic position, thereby expand its influence on distant regions such as South America, where the two sides have great potential for economic cooperation, said Marcelo Ramírez, an Argentine expert in international relations.

At the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse are leading a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the expanded BRICS Summit 2025 and undertake bilateral activities in Brazil.

The upcoming trip to Brazil by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the expanded BRICS summit and engage in bilateral activities from July 4-8 holds significant importance as it takes place amid a complex and unpredictable global context, said Pedro da Oliveira, General Secretary of the Brazil – Viet Nam Friendship Association.
