Ho Chi Minh City Vice Chairman Bui Minh Thanh has signed a decision approving adjustments to the eco-tourism, resort, and recreation development plan for Con Dao National Park through 2030.

A mural depicting the landscapes of Viet Nam’s 34 provinces and cities following the administrative merger last year has been officially unveiled along the road connecting the centre of the Con Dao Island with Con Dao Airport.

Politburo Member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang presided over a flower-laying, incense-offering, and candle-lighting ceremony honouring the heroic martyrs to commemorate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day at Hang Duong Cemetery in the Con Dao Special Zone on the evening of July 25.

The Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism has reported that Con Dao topped the list of the world’s 30 most mysterious islands as selected by Travel+Leisure magazine, becoming a standout destination among islands whose beauty feels almost completely secluded from the outside world.

Amid the open sea on sunny days in March, Con Dao appears vividly blue, with roads shaded by ancient tropical almond trees and vibrant bougainvillea lining the route from the airport to the town centre, creating a tranquil beauty for the small island.

Con Dao on February 10 welcomed its first international cruise ship in 2026, signalling a promising start for the island’s tourism sector this year.

Vogue France magazine has recently named Viet Nam as one of Asia’s most attractive destinations for 2026, thanks to its perfect blend of natural landscapes, distinctive culture, and vibrant life.

 Con Dao National Park in Ho Chi Minh City has officially been awarded the prestigious IUCN Green List certification, becoming Viet Nam’s third and the world’s 101st protected area to receive the global recognition for effective and equitable conservation management.

Following its merger, Con Dao has become a special administrative zone under Ho Chi Minh City, holding vast potential for marine and eco-tourism development.

Con Dao island now has access to electricity from the national grid, bettering the lives of locals in Ho Chi Minh City’s special zone.

A new passenger port in Con Dao island district in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has received the first high-speed boat carrying over 200 passengers to the popular tourist destination, according to the Management Board of Ben Dam port.
