Skies over Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City were illuminated with spectacular firework displays on the evening of September 2 to mark the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (1945–2026).

The second competition night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026 (DIFF 2026), themed “Heritage”, took place with a dazzling contest between teams from Viet Nam and France. 

As the clock struck midnight, fireworks were set off at 33 locations across the capital city to welcome the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Horse.

As the Year of the Horse draws near, bringing high hopes for the nation’s journey into a new era of strong development, localities nationwide are gearing up for New Year’s Eve fireworks displays, serving residents and visitors alike while sending wishes for prosperity and success.

The skies over Ha Noi were brilliantly illuminated by multi-layered colour effects from a high-altitude fireworks display celebrating the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress on the evening of January 23.

Ho Chi Minh City is set to light up the sky with fireworks to ring in New Year 2026 at six locations, up two places from the initial plan.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Viet Nam’s National Day (September 2), Ha Noi will host a series of celebratory events culminating in high-altitude fireworks displays at five major locations across the city on the evening of September 2.

Fireworks will light up the skies over 30 locations in all 30 districts and town of Hanoi during the upcoming Lunar New Year ( Tet ) festival, Vietnam’s largest national holiday, the municipal People’s Committee announced on January 6.
