Viet Nam attends annual session of UN Women Executive Board

Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the UN, commended the practical achievements made by the bloc’s Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) despite a challenging international environment, while expressing appreciation for its activities and support in Viet Nam during his address to the annual session of the UN Women Executive Board in New York.

In the past, the image of women was often associated with family responsibilities. Today, however, women are increasingly asserting their important role in the economy. Not only do many hold leadership positions, but numerous female entrepreneurs are also guiding businesses through global challenges, making practical contributions to national GDP growth, creating jobs, and advancing digital transformation and innovation.

Gender equality has always been regarded by the Party and State of Viet Nam as a consistent objective throughout the country’s development process, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha stated at the dialogue session on the country’s ninth national report on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), held in Geneva on February 3.
