The event aimed to raise awareness about gender equality and foster dialogue on strategies to enhance women’s participation in leadership roles.
With the message “Breaking Barriers”, the seminar sought to inspire women to recognise and unlock their potential, overcome social stereotypes, and pursue their passions.
In her opening remarks, Hilde Solbakken, Norwegian Ambassador to Viet Nam, affirmed that gender equality is not only a goal but also a foundation for peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Director of the Viet Nam Women’s Museum, emphasised: “By sharing stories and experiences, we can remove barriers and build a more inclusive society where women’s voices are heard and respected.”
Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights, highlighted the power of female leadership as well as Viet Nam’s experience in empowering women and expanding their participation in political, economic and social life.
At the seminar, speakers shared their inspiring journeys of breaking barriers, leading with purpose and empowering other women.
Their stories demonstrated the transformative impact of female leaders across diverse fields, from leadership in peace and security, to environmental protection, entrepreneurship, and creating social impact through business.
Also attending the event, Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam, underlined the importance of international cooperation and reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to advancing gender equality in Viet Nam and worldwide.
Concluding the seminar, Jim Nickel, Canadian Ambassador to Viet Nam, stressed the significance of gender equality in building a fair, prosperous and sustainable society.
He also reaffirmed the strong commitment of the four embassies to working with the Vietnamese government to promote the rights and leadership of women and girls.
