Vietnamese authorities on May 11 handed over two fishing vessels and ten Chinese fishermen rescued in the Gulf of Tonkin to the Chinese law enforcement force.

Ships 09 and 17 of Brigade 171 under Naval Region 2 docked at the brigade’s port in Ho Chi Minh City’s Rach Dua ward on November 25, completing the 39th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin between the Vietnamese and Chinese navies.

Storm No. 3, internationally known as Typhoon Wipha, passed north of China’s Leizhou Peninsula on the morning of July 21 and entered the northern Gulf of Tonkin, posing a growing threat to Viet Nam’s northern and north-central coastal regions, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
