Under the theme “Together for Peace in Abyei”, the walk was a meaningful highlight of a series of events celebrating United Nations Day (October 24, 2026) at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei.
The event was attended by the commander, deputy commander, and chief of staff of UNISFA, representatives of agencies and units within the mission, peacekeeping personnel from various countries, and a large number of local residents of Abyei.
In response to this meaningful activity, Viet Nam’s Engineering Team No. 5 sent 10 officers and personnel to take part in the walk. Joining international forces, they demonstrated solidarity, fostered exchanges, and worked together towards a peaceful and stable Abyei.
In particular, the event attracted not only those who took part directly but also enthusiastic support and encouragement from the Command of Engineering Team No. 5 and personnel from its sub-units. The active participation and support of these members created a lively atmosphere, demonstrating the team’s solidarity, sense of responsibility, and proactive engagement in the mission’s joint activities.
Walking together was not merely a form of physical exercise but also a symbol of connection, mutual understanding, and sharing among people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
For Viet Nam’s Engineering Team No. 5, participation in the peace walk provided an opportunity for its officers and personnel to strengthen exchanges and consolidate friendly relations with international peacekeeping forces. It also helped promote the image of Viet Nam People’s Army personnel as capable, responsible, friendly, and approachable members of the local community.
