As Viet Nam accelerates public investment with a series of large-scale infrastructure projects, Ho Chi Minh City is facing an urgent need to remove bottlenecks related to disbursement, site clearance and the supply of construction materials.

Looking back at 2025, despite severe storms and flooding, Viet Nam completed more than 1,000 kilometres of expressways, bringing the nationwide total to over 3,500 kilometres, well above the target of 3,000 kilometres.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 31 chaired the 19th meeting of the State Steering Committee for National Key Transport Projects, urging ministries, sectors, and localities to accelerate efforts to complete 3,000km of expressways by the end of 2025.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha proposed Viet Nam and China prioritise infrastructure cooperation, especially in the railway sector, at his meeting on June 18 with Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
