Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang has underscored the substantive outcomes of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s recent working trip, noting that it strengthened Viet Nam’s parliamentary diplomacy profile and advanced ties with key partners.

Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with the high-ranking delegation of Viet Nam, met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Türkiye on late April 17 (local time).

The top legislator of Viet Nam proposed that both sides deepen political and diplomatic connections, as well as parliamentary cooperation, through delegation exchanges, high-level meetings through various channels, and the successful organisation of a visit to Viet Nam by the Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council and a trip to Russia by the NA Chairman to co-chair the 5th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in 2026.

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s cultural identity and its friendly, hospitable people, while highly valuing the European country’s growing role and position at multilateral forums and in regional mediation efforts. He affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to strengthening ties with Türkiye.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested Belgium continue supporting and accompanying Viet Nam in the next development period by expanding all-round collaboration, especially in areas matching Belgium's strengths and Viet Nam's demand.

Both sides agreed to further deepen political ties, increase delegation exchanges, especially among parliamentary leaders, and enhance the sharing of legislative experiences.

Regarding orientations to strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese NA and the IPU in the future, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man underscored the need to foster parliamentary cooperation in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, and sustainable development.

On parliamentary cooperation, the top Vietnamese legislator called for increased the exchange of high-level delegations and closer collaboration between the two legislatures, including sharing legislative experience and strengthening ties between their respective committees.

Viet Nam’s National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on the afternoon of April 16 (local time) as part of his trip to attend the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) and conduct a number of bilateral activities in Türkiye.

The IPU-152 carries the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations”. NA Chairman Man is scheduled to deliver a keynote address outlining Viet Nam’s perspectives on global and regional issues, while putting forward concrete solutions to foster inter-parliamentary cooperation, contributing to maintaining peace, stability while driving sustainable and prosperous development worldwide.

Within the framework of his attendance in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-152) in Istanbul, Türkiye, from April 15–17, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will engage in a range of bilateral activities aimed at further deepening Viet Nam–Türkiye relations, particularly in legislative affairs.
