Viet Nam Social Security (VSS) and related agencies enrolled around 440,000 people in voluntary social insurance and household health insurance schemes during the nationwide peak campaign month promoting universal social insurance coverage in May 2026.

As of the end of March 2026, the number of people participating in social insurance nationwide has reached about 21.66 million, equivalent to 45.39% of the working-age labour force.

Several core indicators of Viet Nam’s social and health insurance system have recorded encouraging progress in the first two months of 2026, according to Viet Nam Social Security (VSS).

As of the end of November 2025, Viet Nam had more than 20.04 million people enrolled in social insurance, accounting for 42.4% of the working-age population.

As of August 2025, nearly 19.3 million Vietnamese people are covered by compulsory social insurance, equivalent to 40.8% of the workforce, according to Viet Nam Social Security (VSS).
