Viet Nam also recorded that 90.7% of the population, or 91.9 million people, are covered by health insurance.

Strong growth in the number of people covered by social and health insurance was reported in localities such as Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the VSS, the entire system has collected over 389 trillion VND (14.7 billion USD), equivalent to 66.6% of the target set by the government and up 17.1% compared with the same period last year.

However, insurance arrears remained high and many localities are taking active measures to meet their year-end targets.

Over the past eight months, the VSS has continued to strengthen the role of social and health insurance as the cornerstone of Viet Nam’s social security system.

Among the highlights of the VSS’s recent activities have been the offering of advice and proposition of amendments to the laws on social insurance, health insurance, employment, and occupational safety.

The VSS has also stepped up its communication efforts to bring social security policies closer to the public, particularly to young people.
