The recent state visit to Sri Lanka by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has served as a “strong catalyst” for advancing cooperation in science, technology and digital transformation between the two countries, Sri Lankan Minister of Science and Technology Chrishantha Abeysena has said.

At the invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, General Secretary and President To Lam, accompanied by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, is paying a state visit to Sri Lanka from May 7 to 8.

The upcoming state visit to Sri Lanka by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and State President To Lam is expected to serve as a pivotal political milestone, providing fresh impetus and opening a new chapter in bilateral relations marked by enhanced political trust and more substantive, wide-ranging cooperation, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong has said.

The visit will be made at the invitation of President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The Vietnamese community in Sri Lanka has contributed to spreading the image of a peaceful, friendly Viet Nam with rich culture and a strong aspiration for development among the Sri Lankan people and international friends.

With a development orientation anchored in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, Viet Nam is gradually forming new productive forces that will underpin rapid and sustainable growth.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam and a working delegation from the embassy visited Sri Lanka’s Northern Province from November 17-19 to promote economic–trade cooperation, explore investment potential and enhance locality-to-locality ties between the two countries.

State President Luong Cuong sent greetings to President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake on July 21 on the occasion of the 55th founding anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries (July 21, 1970 – 2025).

The Vietnamese Party and State want to further deepen bilateral ties with Sri Lanka on the back of close friendship, high political trust, and shared values and interests, said Politburo member and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Nguyen Trong Nghia.
