Amid the modern pace of life in Ho Chi Minh City, traditional markets remain as vivid “memories” of the city. They are not simply places for buying and selling; they also preserve architecture, culture, ways of life, and stories passed down through generations.

From traditional markets to modernised market spaces across Ha Noi, the timeless cultural flow of tradition continues to quietly connect different eras every day.

Once the primary channel for trade serving everyday livelihoods, traditional markets are now facing a growing risk of decline in both their role and effectiveness amid fierce competition from informal street markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and the booming online retail sector. This reality calls for new solutions to prevent traditional markets from being gradually “forgotten” in the course of social and economic development.

Rice exports are receiving many positive signals from the market. Vietnam can export about 7 million tonnes of rice with a turnover of 4 billion USD in 2023. Although the volume is lower than in 2022 (7.13 million tonnes), the turnover is much higher (3.45 billion USD last year).
