The tournament features Vietnam No. 1 player Ly Hoang Nam (Becamex Binh Duong), Trinh Linh Giang (Hai Dang Tay Ninh), Vietnamese American player Daniel Nguyen (Hai Dang Tay Ninh), "king of the doubles" Le Quoc Khanh (Hung Thinh Ho Chi Minh City), and especially the return of former national player Pham Minh Tuan (Hung Thinh HCMC) after nearly five months off.
Held jointly by the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF), Tay Ninh provincial Department of Culture and Sports and Hai Dang JSC, the tournament has a total prize of up to VND500 million (nearly US$22,000), with the competition running until March 10.

In the tournament's opening match yesterday, Pham Minh Tuan had an impressive return as he beat rival Le Trung Khang (Becamex Binh Duong) 6-1, 6-3 with ease to earn his first victory in the colour of Hung Thinh - HCMC, thanks to his experiences and quality.
Tuan’s teammate - promising young player Tat Thai Nguyen - came from behind to beat Truong Thanh Minh (Becamex Binh Duong) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. On Tuesday, Thai Nguyen will next meet Nguyen Le Minh Hau (Da Nang), who had a tough 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Tu Ngoc Nhut (Becamex Binh Duong).

Defending champion of the Vietnam Excellent Tennis Players’ Tournament 2018, Nguyen Van Phuong, also had an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Vo Hoang Hung (Hung Thinh - HCMC). Phuong will face Trieu Hoang Hieu (ACE Sport club) in the second round.
Today, Vietnam's top tennis star Ly Hoang Nam will have his opening match against Lam Hoang Nam (Kien Giang), while No. 2 seed Trinh Linh Giang will encounter Tran Minh Dang from ACE Sports club.
