Under the agreement, the two sides will increase sustainable forest management and development, biodiversity and wildlife conservation, sustainable energy and climate change response, marine conservation and plastic waste reduction.

In addition, they will promote a sustainable food system, protect water resources and freshwater ecosystems, and initiate nature-based solutions.

The two sides will also work to develop the Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon system to become a national lagoon park with wetlands and a biosphere reserve of national and international importance.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on October 18, Thua Thien Hue Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong stated that this cooperation agreement is important for the two sides to build a cooperation framework for 2025-2030.

Recently, WWF Vietnam has carried out many projects to help Thua Thien Hue increase its capacity to manage natural resources sustainably and enhance awareness and livelihoods for the local community.

Such efforts have reduced the risk of illegally exploiting forest resources and hunting for wildlife.
