Under the project, Tien Giang Province aims to create an environment of cooperation and development while forming production organisations, applying advanced technology, and ensuring stable income for durian farmers.
The project will also help the province restructure its agricultural sector, promote a modern and sustainable agriculture that adapts to climate change.
Tien Giang Vice Chairman Pham Van Trong said the project will be implemented in Cai Be District, Cai Lay District and Cai Lay Town at a cost of 15.3 billion VND (over 650,000 USD).
He added the project is expected to enhance the value and competitiveness of Tien Giang-grown durians on the market.
Tien Giang is the largest durian growing region in Vietnam. With 15,000 hectares producing an annual output of 230,000 tonnes, it accounts for more than half of the country’s total.
