A spokesperson of Ethiopian Airlines said Flight ET 302 crashed near Bishoftu town, 62 km southeast of the Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa, with 149 passengers and eight crew members aboard, confirming that the plane was a Boeing 737-800 Max.
The plane left Bole airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 am (local time) before losing contact with the control tower just six minutes later.
