Hanoi Promotion Agency’s efforts in promoting capital’s tourism

Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) is one of the units in the capital that have actively organised and joined events promoting the capital’s tourism to both domestic visitors and international friends.

According to HPA’s Director Nguyen Gia Phuong, under the Plan No.42/KH-UBND launched by the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee on Februaray 23 on the development of the city’s tourism with the aim of affirming tourism as a spearhead economy, contributing to the achievements during the cause of the capital’s construction and development, HPA has proactively joined and held numerous meaningful events.

In February, the agency took part in a conference on spiritual tourism destination promotion in Lang Son province. Deputy Director in charge of Information – Communications and Tourism Promotion of the HPA Bui Duy Quang said that the event offered an opportunity for tourism promotion centres in Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen and Hanoi to meet and share experience as well as enhance cooperation activities for the tourism development.

The agency also joined a survey programme and another conference on tourism destination promotion in Ha Nam province in April. According to Director Phuong, the event aimed to support northern provinces to improve the efficiency of the connection and support together as well as accelerate spiritual tours.

In addition, the HPA attended the Nha Trang Sea Festival from May 31 to June 8 to promote the image of Hanoi’s tourism. The agency introduced new tourism products by travel, accommodation and transport companies in Hanoi as well as publications and videos displaying the destinations in the localities in the city.

In July, the agency signed a cooperation agreement on tourism promotion with Quang Ninh province to exchange information on tourism and enhance the links while participating in annual tourism promotion programmes in other provinces and cities in the country and abroad. In addition, the agreement highlighted the fact that the two localities should regularly exchange measures and methods of tourism promotion as well as deeply coordinate each other at the National Tourism Year 2018 held in Quang Ninh.

The agency is also responsible for supporting and joining promotional programmes, conferences and seminars during the National Tourism Year 2018. It will also play an intermediate role in connecting tourism enterprises from Hanoi and Quang Ninh to jointly build tours.

At the International Tourism Expo in Ho Chi Minh City in September, HPA were very successful in tourism promotion activities, contributing to the overall success of the event. During the three-day expo, the agency’s pavilions welcomed around 10,000 visitors to learn about the capital’s tourism each day. On the opening day, the agency provided information to about 7,800 domestic visitors and 2,200 foreigners. On the occasion of the Lao Cai - Northwest National Tourism Year 2017, HPA attended the Vietnam – China International Trade Fair in Lao Cai province from November 8-16.

In Hanoi, HPA has also held and taken part in numerous tourism promotion events including implementing a strategic cooperation programme with US Cable News Network during 2017-2018 period, carrying out activities in response to the 2017 National Tourism Year, organising cultural, arts, sporting and entertainment activities in the pedestrian streets and neighbouring areas, and launching the Hanoi Book Street.

All tourism promotion activities were implemented practically, thriftily and effectively by the HPA to attract more international visitors to Hanoi, significantly contributing to the capital’s tourism development. The agency made efforts to strengthen regional links and connect Hanoi with other provinces and cities around the country as well as other countries in the region and the world.
