There is rarely a city in Vietnam which possesses rich tourism resource values like Da Nang. It gathers beautiful resorts, natural landscapes and recognised cultural and documentary heritages. With modern tourism infrastructure, friendly people and diverse culinary culture, Da Nang is always on the list of favourite destinations in Asia.
According to Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Tourism, the removal of barriers for key tourism projects is one of the key tasks of the Da Nang tourism sector in 2024. The main goal is to unlock resources, promote investment and create new tourism products and services, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the city's tourism industry.
In addition, well-invested tourism infrastructure, with a stably operated international airport, convenient transportation and a diverse accommodation system, in the first quarter of 2024, Da Nang achieved many impressive figures. The tourism industry has achieved positive results, such as the estimated number of visitors reaching more than 1.88 million, an increase of 23.4%. In particular, there were nearly 636,000 international visitors, up 21.6%, while the number of domestic visitors was nearly 1.25 million, up 24.3%. The total revenue from tourism reached more than 7.6 trillion VND, an increase of 25.6% over the same period in 2023.
According to the 2024 tourism development plan approved by the City People's Committee, the city's tourism industry set a target of welcoming 8.42 million visitors, an increase of more than 13.8% compared to 2023. The April 30 - January 1 holiday is one of the opportunities for Da Nang to achieve its goals, even exceeding the set target. One of the activities is the tourism stimulus programme entitled “Enjoy Da Nang”, carried out by the Da Nang City Department of Tourism, with many activities to attract domestic and foreign tourists. The programme takes place throughout 2024, focusing on introducing unique tourism products and improving tourist experiences. In addition, the city focuses on exploiting key tourism product groups, such as festival tourism, cultural-historical tourism, entertainment, beach tourism, beach resorts, eco-tourism, community-based tourism, farming, agriculture, MICE tourism, golf tourism, and wedding tourism.
Becoming an international tourism and event centre is also a goal that Da Nang tourism is aiming for in the context of competition among domestic and foreign destinations. In June and July, Da Nang will continue to organise the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), which promises to attract many domestic and foreign tourists.
So far, many tourist destinations in Da Nang have become vibrant again with numerous tourists. A typical example is Ban Co Peak on the Son Tra peninsula, which attracted many tourists and locals to visit and take photos after the visit of billionaire Bill Gates in March. Besides Ban Co Peak, several other destinations, along with service areas such as restaurants, hotels, and entertainment areas are also ready to welcome the upcoming peak tourism season.
